Days 4 - 5
Settled in the delta with 5.30am bush walks each morning with an experienced wildlife guide. The animals are at their most active before sunrise. This is exciting and dangerous as we are out in the vast wild delta exposed to herds of wild animals: elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and most importantly rhino and lion which we are instructed on how to behave if/when encounter these. I wish I practiced climbing up tree's before this trip! We always walked in single file and quietly... which made sudden sounds in the distant bushes that more exciting (and scary) too!
We had campfire dancing and music with our local makoro polers and bush guides each night after dinner. After leaving the delta, some of us headed straight for Maun airport and took a 90-minute flight across the delta - spotting even more amazing wildlife from above. Our adrenaline junky pilate swept down close to the delta showing off his nose-dive maneuvers and subsequently causing poor Anne (Ozzie) beside me to fill 2 sick bags. Yuk!!
